Rise of the Guardians

Rise of the Guardians – a great film.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rise of the Guardians, however I did find it a bit of a confusing film at times.

We have characters like The Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Mr Sandman and Santa, all fun child-related characters. We also have our principle hero, Jack Frost, and representing evil, Pitch Black.

However though we have some fun childhood characters acting at times in a suitably child-compatible way, they also tackle some quite adult issues. The way they took on board friendship and loyalty issues I really liked. There was also the theme of loneliness and isolation running throughout the film.

I’m glad these issues were looked at from an adult perspective, it’s just that jumping to and fro from this perspective back to the child-compatible humour rather caught me out at times.

So a great film that puts a fresh twist on to some familiar mythical childhood characters.
